I was walking west on 26th Street in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, between 10th and 11th Avenues, when this scenario caught my attention. There’s two things that I found a bit odd or unlikely: one, the shade of red that makes up the caps for the fire department connection (also referred to as a siamese connection) matches the shade of red on the jug cap sitting on the ground. The other odd thing is I’m wondering why this red-capped milk jug has been cut off in such a clean horizontal line and left here next to the red fire department caps? It makes for an interesting NYC still life, don’t you think?
