I saw this on 8th Avenue between 30th and 31st Streets, and one could have fun thinking of this graffiti character acting as the new spokesman for the “Best Cheesecake on Earth,” as noted on the awning above.
As you can see, this place is boarded up and not an active storefront any more. I was curious to find out what place once billed itself as the “best cheesecake on earth,” and it seems it was D’Aiuto’s Bakery, as evidenced by the photograph on this webpage. If this place closed in 2013 as the article suggests, I wonder if this storefront has really been empty and unoccupied for the past 6 years?
