A crew of journalists and producers from television current affairs program 60 Minutes has been denied permission to film in Kiribati.
The crew of five people, including journalist Liam Bartlett, travelled to the tiny Pacific atoll on Monday, a Nine spokesman said.
The crew members were there to film a story about Chinese influence in the Pacific, but were denied a visa for media purposes. They have since agreed to remain in their hotel until their scheduled flight out of the country on Thursday.
The spokesman denied the crew had been detained or arrested. “They’re free to move around the entire hotel,” he said.
